We awoke from our long rest at night and strategized our disguises, concluding that we'll all wear military uniforms and headed off toward the mountains with our refugees in tow, splitting into a caravan of small groups. Morro fended off nosy strangers with some good lies, and as dawn approached we sought shelter in a corn field and set up watch.
Near midday, 6 men in plain clothes approached our group, claiming to be from "unit 743." Morro accosted them while Whipp quickly woke Gulden. Despite Gulden's best efforts to deter them, they found our camp and a cornfield fight ensued. Kestyn head-butted one of them. Enna spurred the plants to grow crazily while Orla hurled a vitriolic sphere. Morro picked two of them off before hiding in the corn maze. Gulden zapped their synapses, picking off two more. Kiiv absolutely obliterated one with slashing and smiting. Kestyn got hit by the last living enemy shortly before Whipp smashed him. Kiiv threw a rope around the enemy, restraining him briefly before he broke away. Whipp and Kestyn and Kiiv chased him down, knocking him unconscious.
Unfortunately, we noticed that the farmer's family had run off, so Whipp and Kestyn ran/rode in opposite directions to try to chase them down. Whipp managed to collar the farmer, but the family ran away to take shelter in a neighboring farmhouse. They tied up the farmer and left him in his own house. We attempted to finish our rest, further restraining the "unit 743" prisoner after he awoke. Enna and Gulden took the last watch; a large group of people, some in Order Core uniform, approached. Gulden attempted to lure them away with a minor illusion. Shortly thereafter, though, they noticed that the cornfield was on fire. Enna extinguished some of it; then Gulden woke us up. Orla's familiar revealed that the entire perimeter of the field was on fire and people with torches were waiting for us.
On this ominous note, we paused.
