(continued from Session 045)
The battle continues:
We noticed a big group of guards who had been supervising the prisoners heading our way. They engaged with us by shooting at Morro. Berglia then knocked a bunch of them down by beating her wings while Kiiv held the door. She unaccountably set fire to the prisoner barracks while taking largely ineffective fire from the guards. Morro got a couple of shots off, sending one guard to meet his maker. Gulden and Whipp tried yet again to raise the gate without success. Kestyn meanwhile let the prisoners out and started directing them to safety.
We discovered to our dismay that Birglia saw people without legit brands as targets when she very uncoolly knocked down Orla and Gulden, then snapped Gulden with her tail. Kiiv bumped off another enemy. Birglia then absoutely incinerated a group of guards, while a couple of foolhardy tower defenders continued to shoot at her. Morro took heavy damage before Gulden and Whipp finally raised the gate. Birglia yet again buffeted poor Orla. Kestyn healed his buddy Morro and then led him and the prisoners toward safety. Orla high-tailed it to our badger burrow and made it her own personal foxhole, while Birglia whaled on Gulden some more. Whipp got beat up by some guards before some prisoners with improvised weapons showed up to back them up. Kiiv murdered another guard. Birglia continued to be a complete asshole, downing Gulden and viciously clawing Enna while taking fire from more guards.
Kiiv took some damage. Morro took a couple of potshots at Birglia but they didn't land; Birglia slapped Enna again; Enna healed Gulden; Birglia promptly slapped him down again. Whipp smashed a guard, Morro ran to Gulden and dumped a healing potion down his throat. Annoyingly, Birglia immediately slapped him down again. Orla popped out of her foxhole and hurled acid at the dragon. Whipp was knocked unconscious and burned by Birglia. Some of the guards turned their ire toward Birglia. Morro poked Birglia with several arrows, and she retaliated by slapping Kestyn. Enna healed Gulden before Birglia promptly tail slapped him, but not enough to knock him down, so he healed folks. A newly healed Whipp waded into the dragon-bashing fray, getting a solid hit in before Birglia's tail took them down again. Kestyn tried to grab Gulden and run away.
A spurting Birglia torched some more guards and prisoners, then took to the air. With steady aim and fire in his eyes, Morro finally, heroically took her down. Her gigantic body crashed to the ground but mercifully failed to hit anyone.
Despite the opportunity to declare peace in the name of a common cause, the remaining guards chose violence and decided to attack us. Enna healed Whipp, and they chucked some handaxes at the nearest guard. Kestyn healed Gulden, then ran back into the fray. From her foxhole, Orla fireballed and killed a bunch of guards. A guard sniped Whipp down yet again; Morro returned fire and killed one. Kestyn kindly healed Whipp with a potion; Orla firebolted a guard and then Kiiv finished him off. Morro fatally shot a tower guard, then Enna fried another with lightning. Whipp, healed once more, smashed the nearest guard in sight. We killed the remaining guards, but at least one ran away.
Victory! (mostly)
Kestyn explored the burning building, grabbing random papers and food and stuff and taking some fire damage.
Next session: level up to 9. Loot the dragon and anything else.
